Dawson Hammes Caps 2024 with Top-10 at Spooktacular
PETERSEN MEDIA: Sneaking one final sprint car race in for the 2024 season, Dawson Hammes had a strong showing at the Paul Hawes Memorial Spooktacular in Marysville, CA on Saturday night as recorded a 7th place finish.

“It was a pretty decent night for us overall, aside from my pill draw to start the night,” Dawson Hammes joked. “We had pretty good speed all night long, and it with being an end of the year race, we had some really good cars in attendance and I was pleased with our result.”

With 24 cars in the pit area for the final sprint car race of the season in Marysville, CA, Hammes went out dead last and time trials and did all he could on a surface that had fallen off from early in the session as he ended up 16th quickest overall.

Just making the heat race inversion, Hammes lined up on the front row of his heat race alongside 2024 Marysville Raceway Champion, Carson Hammes, needing the win to earn a spot in the redraw.

When the green lights flashed, Hammes was hard on the throttle as he got the jump over his younger brother and jumped into the early lead. Keeping his teammate at bay, Hammes went on to score the win as he qualified for the redraw where the ‘five’ ultimately lined him up in the third row of the 25-lapper.

As the race came to life, Hammes found himself carving it up with the likes of Sean Becker, Shane Hopkins, and Jake Haulot. Going toe-to-toe against he veterans around him, Hammes was able to hold his own as he battled for position in the Top-Five all race long.

Continuing to search around the Marysville Raceway surface, Hammes kept his mount well inside the Top-10 all race long, and took the checkered with a seventh place finish to cap his 2024 sprint car campaign.

“It was a cool race to close our season out with,” Hammes said. “There was a ton of fans and kids there to take part in the trick-or-treat event, and we had a great group of people in our pit area helping out. I want to thank my parents, Carson, Ally, Caleb, Jeremiah, Samuel, Hunter, and Josh for all of their help on Saturday and all season long.”

Hammes Motorsports would like to thank Movement Brewing, STS Farming, All About Fire Protection, Summit Partners Burbank Agency, Escalera Inc, Harper Inc., Rock Crushing Solutions, Shane Matthews Transport, and Ace Attorney Services for their continued support.
