‘Unfortunately, our year ended with a big wreck on Saturday night,” Willie Croft said. “Looking at the big picture however, it was an extremely fun season, and I was fortunate to have 10-12 different people step up and lend me a hand on my car at various tracks through the year and they really made it all possible. To end up 2nd in points is also really something that I am proud of.
On the opening lap of Saturday night’s KWS/NARC season finale, Croft was involved in a wild flip that resulted in him landing in the work area at the Stockton Dirt Track. While he was able to climb out unscathed, Croft’s night and season were over in an instant.
While his season finale was brief, Croft’s body of work still led him to a career best finish with the series as he ended up second overall in the Championship standings. Large in part to Croft’s points finish was a streak of seven consecutive Top-5’s over the summer months that included a win during the series’ speedweek in Oregon, as well as four consecutive podium finishes.
“I have worked so hard for so many years being the crew chief and driver of my own team, and sometimes that goes unseen,” Croft said. “To win this award and join fellow award winners like Mark Bristow, Rod TIner, and Jimmy Carr is really special and something I will always cherish. It was a good season, and on top of all the people that stepped in and helped me out, I also want to thank everyone that supported this team in some facet and helped us get up and down the road.
