Sean Becker Hard Charges to Podium at SCCT Finale

PETERSEN MEDIA- Sean Becker and Dan Monhoff ended their season on a high note. After running second a week ago in Marysville, CA, Becker and company were back in action at Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour where Becker had his elbows up and charged to a third-place finish.

“First and foremost I am super grateful that Dan Monhoff added the Sprint Car Challenge Tour finale to our schedule,” Sean Becker said. “We both struggled with the new configuration that was offered up to us, but Dan kept at it and we got better each time we hit the track.”

With 24 cars on hand for the final SCCT event of the 2024 season, Becker kicked the night off by timing in 14th fastest to put himself in a bit of an early hole.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, cool temperatures and overnight rain led to a surface that stayed extremely fast during the early portion of the night which equated to a lack of passing in heat races.

Settling into third as the heat came to life, Becker went on to finish third which then placed him sixth row for the final 30-lap SCCT feature event of the season.

When the race came to life, stoppages and cautions mired the early goings and prevented the race from getting into any type of flow and rhythm.

Taking advantage of a couple of cars ahead of him having issues, Becker was into ninth as the race really came to life on the eighth lap. Getting into a green flag run, Becker was able to search around the ¼ mile as the track began to clean up and get wide.

Moving into seventh on the 10th circuit, Becker broke into the Top-Five at the race’s halfway point.

Settling into fifth for 10-laps, Becker was into fourth on the 23rd lap, then was able to sneak into third when race leader, Justin Sanders had issues. A late restart put Becker right on second running, Tanner Carrick’s rear bumper, and trying to get one spot better in the final laps, Becker settled for third and capped off an 11th-to third charge.

“I was a little nervous with how narrow the track was in heat races, but the track slowed down in the feature, and Dan Monhoff did a lot of work and put a great car underneath me,” Becker noted. “I am very happy to end our year with a podium.”
