PETERSEN MEDIA: Following the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour pres. by Abreu Vineyards to the Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night, Andy Gregg would have a long and eventful night but when the checkered flew he had worked his way up to a 10th place finish.
“It was a long night for our team, but it ended up being a good one,” Andy Gregg said. “We turned a lot of laps and when it was all said and done we ended up with a Top-10.”
Not having the right gear in for time trials, Gregg would time his GUTS/Angius and Terry LLP/Capitol Ace Hardware backed No. 16 machine in 19th fastest overall and sixth fastest in his group.
Finishing ninth in heat race action, the Diamond Springs, CA driver would be forced into the ‘B’ Main where he would line up in the fifth starting spot. Spinning out in turns one and two in the opening laps, Gregg would be forced to the tail end of the field and in a bit of a hole to get to the ‘A’.
From the back, Gregg showed very good car speed as he was able to make moves at will from 18th, and get back in the mix. Getting back to the sixth and final transfer spot in the closing laps, Gregg would make it to the feature event where he would grid the field from the 22nd starting spot.
Having issues on the fourth lap of the feature event, Gregg would then run a patient race from the tail end of the field. With cautions slowing much of the race’s momentum, Gregg would take the spots that were given to him as he worked around the extremely slick Stockton Dirt Track.
Continuing to run strong event as the rubber went down, Gregg would cap a long night with a nice charge from 22nd to a 10th place finish.
“It was eventful,” Gregg joked. “I have to thank my guys for all of their hard work. I couldn’t do this if it wasn’t for them, so again huge kudos to them.”
Andy would like to thank GUTS, Angius and Terry LLP, Capitol ACE Hardware, Ice House Resort, CTL Forest Management, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Broadband Agreements, Russo Insurance, Kelly Moore Paints, Cal Pro Paint and Construction, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, and MF Inc. for their support in 2017.
