PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to action on Friday night in Placerville, CA, Tony Gomes and C&M Motorsports scored a seventh place finish with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour during the opening night of the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial.
“It was nice to finally have an event-free night where we didn’t have to make a trip to the work area,” Tony Gomes said with a smile. “I didn’t quite qualify as good as I needed to, but I was in a good position to race for a Dash spot I just couldn’t make it happen in our heat.”
Timing the Lund Construction/Anrak/Sam Rhodes backed No. 7c in 7th fastest in his qualifying flight with 40 cars checked into the pit area on Friday evening.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Modesto, CA driver chased after Luke Hayes and Justin Sanders but was unable to make any headway as he ended up finishing third which did lock him into the feature event.
On the slick Placerville Speedway surface, Gomes lined up in the sixth row for the 35-lap Dave Bradway Jr Memorial opening night feature event.
Having a solid start to the feature event, Gomes wasted no time working into the Top-10 as he jumped into ninth on the opening lap before taking over eighth on the race’s 10th circuit.
Slipping back to 10th at the halfway point of the feature event, Gomes took advantage of another’s miscue on 26th lap and was back into ninth. Moving into eighth just a lap later, he continued to press as the laps clicked off.
Working into seventh on the 30th lap, Gomes went on to cap his night off with his fourth Top-10 of the season with C&M Motorsports.
“I am very thankful that Cody and Mandi provide me such a great racecar to compete in each and every week,” Gomes added. “Big thanks to Cody, Bobby, and John for working hard and always keeping our pit area fun and loose. I am really excited that we are getting into the summer months and can get into the full swing of things.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Lund Construction, Anrak, Sam Rhodes, Alturas Tires, Swartz Diesel, Adrian Blanco Jewelry, Kings Meats, American Paving Systems, PT Shocks, Creason Enterprises, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
