Tanner Carrick Takes Strong Showing at Fall Nationals Into Week Off As Trophy Cup Prep Is Underway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back up to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA for one final time in 2024, Tanner Carrick flirted with an opening night win before settling for a runner up finish, and went on to run 10th in Saturday’s finale.

“Friday night I feel like I gave one away, and when you have Justin Sanders behind you limiting mistakes is crucial,” Tanner Carrick said. “We had a good car, as we have had all year and now we will take a week to get ready for the Trophy Cup Tune Up and the Trophy Cup as our Sprint Car season quickly starts to wrap up.”

Carrick kicked the weekend off on Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway by timing the CVC/Cemex/CA Waterfowl backed No. 83T entry in fifth quickest in his qualifying flight.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Lincoln, CA runner got the jup and took command of the race in the early stages. Leading from start to finish, the win not only locked Carrick into the opening night feature event but it also put him in the all-important Trophy Dash.

Pulling the three in the redraw, Carrick was able to improve his starting position for the feature by a row as a second place finish put him on the outside of the front row.

When the feature event rolled around, Carrick continued to go forward as he jumped into the early lead and began setting a very strong pace around the ¼ mile. While he was comfortable out front the action was heating up behind him and let him open his lead up at times.

As the laps wound down, Justin Sanders was able to clear a couple cars and close in on Carrick as the battle for the lead intensified. With just a handful of laps left in the race, Sanders raced his way by Carrick and went on to pick up the win as Carrick settled for the runner up position.

Back at the speedway on Saturday night for the final event of the season in Chico, CA, Carrick didn’t miss a beat from the opener as he was able to get timed in second fastest in his time trial group on this night, which made his night a tick easier as far as getting into the Dash.

Lining up in the second row of his heat, Carrick simply needed to finish inside the Top-5 to lock into the Dash based on qualifying and he did just that as he finished fifth before pulling the vaunted ‘eight’ in the redraw.

Going from eighth to sixth in the Dash, Carrick was again abel to improve his feature event starting position as he took the green from the outside of the third row for the 35-lapper.

Battling in the Top-5 in the first half of the race, the second half of the race saw Carrick slip back as he tried a few different lines. With the field getting strung out, Carrick continued to search around to fine a line to move forward but as he searched he slowly gave up track position.

With the checkered flag flying, Carrick closed the weekend out as he came across in the 10th position.

“Saturday night I just got to searching around and it didn’t work out for us in the feature,” Carrick said. “Looking forward to a couple of big races to close out October.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 57, Wins: 6, Top 5’s: 26, Top 10’s: 35

ON TAP: Carrick will be idle this weekend but will return to action next weekend as he heads to Tulare, CA for the ‘Trophy Cup Tune Up’.
