PETERSEN MEDIA: Ringing the New Year in at the Tulsa Shootout in Tulsa, OK, Tanner Carrick had a busy first week of the year as he competed in four classes at the prestigious Micro Sprint event where he would make the feature in the Winged Stock Class and have a mixed bag of results in the other three.

Falling out of both Non-Wing Stock and Outlaw competition early in the week, Carrick would turn his attention to Winged Outlaw and Stock action where he would have nice runs including making the Stock feature after running a ‘B’ and the LCQ.
Grabbing the win in his Winged Outlaw class heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver would move into a qualifier where he would grid the field from the fifth starting position. Looking to gain a few positions to earn more event points, Carrick would hold steady in the fifth position and go on to finish there.
When points were calculated, the USAC National Midget Series regular would find himself one of the multiple ‘B’ Mains where he would grid the field from the second row needing to finish inside the Top-2 to keep his night going.
Getting off to a nice start, Carrick would quickly jump into third and begin pressuring for the second a final transfer position into the Last Chance Qualifier.
Carrick would be pesky but many of his attempts would see get forced up of the groove and near the wall and he would continue to not press the issues as he used patience.
Continuing to get pushed towards the wall, Carrick would ultimately fall back to fourth and his Winged Outlaw run at the Tulsa Shootout would come to a close.
Winged Stock action would see Carrick get off to a great start as he would acquire a nice chunk of points in his heat race as he would advance from the third starting position to collect the win and move into a qualifier.
Finishing fourth in his qualifier after starting fourth, Carrick would move into a ‘B’ Main where he would pick up the win from the pole and advance into the Last Chance Qualifier looking for one of eight transfer positions into the feature event.
Putting together a nice 12-lap LCQ, Carrick would methodically work his way forward from his sixth starting position to finish third and move into the 25-lap feature event.
Gridding the field from the 19th starting position, Carrick would crack the Top-15 in the first three laps only to get collected in a wreck that would end his night and his Tulsa Shootout as he would officially be scored 22nd in the final rundown.
“It was fun, we had a good car and really showed some good speed,” Tanner Carrick added. “It was great to get so many laps at the Expo Center and I am really excited to run my first Chili Bowl next week.”
