PETERSEN MEDIA: Making a long awaited return to Calistoga Speedway on Saturday night for the Dirt Classic, Steven Tiner would have a rough night that resulted in him finishing 21st.

“We just were not very good on Saturday night,” Tiner said. “We came through the ‘B’, and I made the wrong call for the feature event and we were just too tight and couldn’t go anywhere.”

With 45 cars on hand for the Sprint Car Challenge Tour portion of the Dirt Classic, Tiner would time his Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious backed No. 94 machine in 21st fastest overall which was sixth overall in his qualifying group.

Lining up in the third row of his heat race, Tiner would finish in the fifth spot and be forced into the 12-lap ‘B’ Main event. Lining up ninth in the semi, Tiner would turn in some impressive laps during the semi.

With his elbows up on the half time, the Visalia, CA resident would carve his way up to a third place finish and punch his ticket into the lucrative 30-lap Dirt Classic ‘A’ Main event.

As the track continued to slick off during the 410 feature event, track crews would do some quick work prior to the 360 feature event. Admittedly going a little too far on his adjustments, Tiner would battle a tight car during the duration of the race.

Unable to do much of the half mile, Tiner would not force any issue as he would finish in the 21st position.

“It was a bad call on my part, but it was a really neat event to be a part of,” Tiner added. “I would have liked to have run better, but it was nice getting to Calistoga and feeling the energy that was in the air all night long.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-14, Wins-0, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-6

ON TAP: Tiner will be at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night and at Stockton Speedway on Sunday night.
