SCCT Top-5 Highlights Bradway Weekend for Cole Macedo

PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending his weekend in Placerville, CA competing with the both the Sprint Car Challenge Tour and the Northern Auto Racing Club, Cole Macedo recorded a fifth place finish on Friday night before a hard fought 11thplace finish on Saturday.

“It wasn’t the weekend that we had in mind, but it wasn’t for lack of effort,” Cole Macedo said. “Friday night the only really thing that hurt was a bad Dash draw, but on Saturday I put us in an early hole qualifying.”

The weekend came to life on Friday night as the Sprint Car Challenge Tour pres by Elk Grove Ford took center stage at Placerville Speedway to open up the annual Dave Bradway Jr Memorial.

Macedo got the weekend underway by timing the Tarlton and Son Inc./Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions/Executive Auto Sales No. 21 in second fastest in his qualifying flight.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Macedo battled hard with Michael Faccinto for the top spot which was an automatic berth on the front row of the Dash if he could get to it. Battling tooth and nail with Faccinto, Macedo ultimately ended up second and still earned a Dash spot for his efforts.

Pulling the eight in the redraw, Macedo went eighth to sixth in the Dash and that ultimately lined him up in the third row for the 35-lap feature Sprint Car Challenge Tour feature event.

On the slick racing surface, Macedo lost a couple of spots in the early laps and found himself trapped back in eighth and ninth for much of the feature event. With eighth laps to go, he was able to make a couple of swift moves and work into fifth late in the feature event.

When the dust settled, Macedo held the position and capped the opener off in fifth.

Saturday night saw the attention turn to the Northern Auto Racing Club as the 410ci’s took over for the Saturday night finale.

Getting off to a big of a tough start on Saturday, Macedo timed in 11th quickest in time trials as he fought a thick cushion that his built up early in the  night. Finishing sixth in his heat, Macedo was forced into the ‘B’ where a fourth place finish put him in the 40-lap Dave Bradway Memorial feature event.

Lining up shotgun on the field, Maced did a great job of keeping his nose clean as the early goings of the race were mired by numerous stoppages.

Once things were able to get into a rhythm, Macedo was able to work his way forward as he slowly worked towards the Top-10.

Getting into 10th with five to go, Macedo was up into ninth a lap later before a slight misstep saw him fall back to 11thwhere he ultimately finished.

“It was just a tough weekend, but like I said, the guys worked hard and we kept at it,” Macedo added. “Super thankful to both the Tarlton and Dyson families for supporting our race team so much and putting us in a great spot to be competitive each night we check into the pit area.”
