Ryan Robinson Records Top-10 with SCCT as Weiher Racing Returns to Action

PETERSEN MEDIA: Being sidelined while they waited for an engine repair from issues during the June event at Petaluma Speedway, Ryan Robinson and Weiher Racing returned to racing action on Saturday night in Watsonville, CA where they ran 10th at the Johnny Key Classic.

“It felt great to get back in the No. 14W after a couple months of us being sidelined,” Ryan Robinson said. “We had a stacked heat race, and after missing the inversion we had a car that was really good and we ran second and really improved our feature event starting position.”

A total of 41 cars checked into the Ocean Speedway on Saturday night for the Johnny Key Classic and Robinson got the night started by timing the Mako Farms Inc./LP Holdings/RPI backed No. 14W entry in fifth fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up fifth in his heat race, the extremely slick racing surface played into Robinson’s hands as he had a very strong run that set up the rest of his night. Working his way past some stout competition, Robinson would finish second and put himself in the fifth row for the impending 35-lap feature event.

Continuing to watch the track slick off, Robinson rolled out to the feature event following some track prep set to take the green flag from the ninth starting spot.

With the track quickly getting back to its slick state, Robinson was able to race his way forward as he got into the sixth spot on a lap nine restart.

Slipping back to seventh, Robinson found himself in a torrid battle with DJ Netto and Tony Gomes. As the trio of youngster sliced and diced around the Ocean Speedway ¼ mile bullring, Robinson would get into the wall on the 23rd lap and fall back to 12th.

Enduring some suspension damage with the contact, Robinson was able to stay on the racing surface as he limped his mount home to a 10th place finish.

“We were really good in the feature, but I knocked the Jacob’s Ladder out late in the race and really just limped home,’ Robinson said. “Thanks to Todd and the guys for getting this thing back together and getting back out to the track.”

Weiher Racing would like to thank Mako Farms Inc., LP Holdings, Roseville Precision Inc., Escalon Body and Frame, Seth’s Racing Engines, Pettibone Builders, Sipes CC, The Holman Family, Square Tires, Papa Chuck, Dave Harvey Trucking, and Morrison Concrete for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-10, Wins-1, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-7

ON TAP: Ryan Robinson and Weiher Racing will be back in action September 7th in Chico, CA.
