PETERSEN MEDIA: Racing with the KWS on two occasions over the weekend, DJ Netto would finish seventh on Friday night at the Ocean Speedway before recording a sixth place finish on Saturday night at the Calistoga Speedway.

“It was just an okay weekend for our team,” Netto said. “We had some really good speed, and probably should have finished a little better than we did, but overally I was happy with how the car felt.”

Friday night at the Ocean Speedway during the Pombo Sargent Classic, Netto would go out early during group qualifications and time his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Kaeding Performance sponsored entry in 14th fastest.

Starting and finishing fifth in his heat race, the Hanford, CA driver would grid the field from the seventh row for the 30-lap feature event. On the racy ¼ mile Ocean Speedway, Netto’s machine came alive. Able to work the top of the speedway, Netto would work his way up to the Top-10.

Getting by Colby Copeland and Michael Kofoid, Netto would find himself in the eighth spot when the race’s final caution flew with seven markers remaining. Getting a spot when the action resumed, Netto’s charge forward would end with a seventh place finish.

Making the trip to the famed Calistoga Speedway on Saturday night, Netto would lay down a very nice lap during qualifications that saw him third fastest on the speed chart.

Finishing third in his heat race, Netto would pull the three pill and line up in the second row for the six-lap dash, where a fourth place finish would see him grid the field fourth for the feature event.

As the race went green, Netto would battle with Colby Copeland and Shane Golobic as the trio fought for the fifth spot. Moving all around the ½ mile speedway, Netto would find himself in the sixth spot when the yellow flag flew on the 14th lap.

When the race resumed, so did the three-headed battle between the three young guns. As Netto and company continue to fight for track position, Brent Kaeding would enter the mix and begin pressuring Netto. Abel to fend off the Hall of Fame driver, Netto closed his weekend out with a sixth place finish.

“I had a really good car at Calistoga, but everyone was really fast right around the top of the track,” Netto said. There was a lot of back and forth action, so it made it tough to move forward.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Kaeding Performance, Shell Rotella T6, and Van De Pol Enterprises for their support in 2016.

ON TAP: Netto will take this weekend off before a KWS Double Header Weekend July 9th and 10th in Hanford, CA and Stockton, CA

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-30, Wins-0, Top 5’s-4, Top 10’s-15
