PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, a mid-race incident would bring Justyn Cox and C&M Motorsports’ night to an early end.
“It was just one of those nights,” Justyn Cox said. “Goes to show how racing works. Last time we were at Placerville we won one of the biggest races of the year, and this past Saturday night we had some issues to work through and that had an incident in the feature.”
Timing the Berco Redwood/Barry Lumber, Inc./Lund Construction backed No. 7c machine in 18th fastest in qualifying time trials as they continued to tune on a fresh motor, Cox would proceed to pick up a third-place finish in his heat race.
Lining up in the feature based on his qualifying time, Cox would find himself in the 17th starting position for the 25-lap feature event on the slick Placerville Speedway racing surface.
Getting off to a quick start, Cox would have his elbows up as he worked his way towards the Top-10 as he sliced and diced his way through traffic. Getting into the Top-10 by the fourth lap, Cox looked have the bugs worked out as he was working his way forward.
Getting into ninth on the seventh lap, Cox would continue to work his way forward as he aspired of getting into the Top-5. However, Cox would run into issues on the 10th lap when contact would result in a damaged front end which would be too much to fix in two minutes, and his night would end.
“We had a fresh motor in, and we had some early issues to work through,” Cox said. “Cody and the guys seemed to have had things ironed out, because I felt pretty good in the feature. Unfortunately, our night ended early, but I am feeling like we are back where we need to be heading into two night’s this weekend.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Lund Construction, Anrak, Creason Enterprises, Legacy Specialties, Inc. PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
