Joel Myers Jr Makes Second Appearance at Eldora Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Eldora Speedway for the first time since his rookie run at the Kings Royal, Joel Myers Jr was happy with his progress as he continues to figure the high banked half mile located in Rossburg, Ohio.

“Getting the chance to run at places like Knoxville Raceway and Eldora Speedway this summer have been incredible,” Joel Myers Jr said. “The results obviously haven’t been there, but getting more and more laps there is invaluable and this past weekend at Eldora, I felt like we made huge strides as a team, and for me as a driver getting back there for another weekend felt completely different in a positive way.”

Taking part in the Four-Crown Nationals with Kubota High Limit Racing, Myers Jr and the Hayward Motorsports team went to battle against a very stout field of cars.

Timing the Shiti Coolers/Eddie Gilstrap Motors/Byrd Racing No. 19H entry in 16th quickest on Friday night, the Sebastopol, CA driver lined up in the fourth row of his heat race.

Starting and finishing eighth in heat race competition, Myers Jr moved into the ‘B’ where he chased after one of four transfers into the feature event as he took the green flag from the 11th starting spot. From the sixth row, Myers Jr looked more comfortable and confident on the famed half mile as he was able to pick up a couple of positions in the 12-lap event.

Working up to seventh, Myers Jr missed out on the transfer though felt good about the changes they made as the Hayward Motorsports team readied for Saturday.

Back to work on Saturday night, Myers Jr timed in 17th quickest on this night and lined up in the fifth row of heat race competition. Picking up a pair of positions in his heat, the youngster again moved into the semi where he took the green flag from the 10th starting position.

When the semi came to life, Myers Jr hit some grease that was on the track following track prep and spun his entry to a stop. Abel to keep from getting into the wall, the CA native restarted from the tail end of the field.

When the race went green, he was able to work his way forward after restarting 19th. Passing fleet of cars in the closing laps, Myers Jr capped his weekend off with a 12th place finish in the ‘B’.

“On paper it isn’t the best weekend, but gaining confidence with the changes on our car and the confidence to know where to put the car to make moves goes a very long way,” Myers Jr added. “Super thankful to Brodie Hayward and everyone with this Hayward Motorsports team for continuing to support me and give me a really great opportunity to run against the best at a ton of different tracks.”
