No brainer. As tough as it is to not spread out the love nationwide, when your own backyard has a guy who wins a race he’s always wanted to and breaks down in tears in Victory Lane, you give him Driver Of The Week. Kyle David Hirst, middle name a tribute to Dave Bradway, Jr., the fallen and budding superstar of our sport taken from us in 1987, finally got it done after years of trying, fighting off a last lap charge from Sean Becker and a last lap lapper problem to fight to the checkers first and close out an emotional victory in style at this year’s renewal of the Dave Bradway, Jr. Memorial. There’s no one else we’d rather give this week’s Driver Of The Week award to.
Honorable mentions were plentiful this week as many drivers did some amazing things. Shout out to Klint Simpson, who won both the wingless and winged main events at Petaluma Speedway, Sean Becker, who nearly won the Bradway but came up just short and ran second, Buddy Kofoid who at 14 years old won at the Ocean Speedway in just his second career start at the place, and Jason Chisum who also had a career night at the Ocean Speedway and found himself on the podium.
