PETERSEN MEDIA- Even with the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster invading the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Greg DeCaires remained red hot at the Placerville Speedway in 2015 as he was the dominant car all night long en route to his third win of the year, and sixth consecutive podium finish.
“Bill McLaren and Dale Miller have worked hard on this car all year long, and Saturday night was no different,” DeCaires said. “We had a great car, and our Wesmar Racing Engine was awesome, and we grabbed another win.”
As 23 winged 360’s checked in for a night of racing on the high-banked ¼ mile speedway, DeCaires got his night started off in fine form as he timed the Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic/Foothill 7 TV/Redhawk Casino No. 4SA machine in second quickest.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, ‘The Catfish’ had his elbows up as he battled with Shane Golobic and Sean Becker to finish in the third spot and move into the night’s 6-lap dash.
By way of the pill draw, DeCaires would find himself on the pole, as he picked up the Dash win and earned the right to start on the pole of the 30-lap feature event.
The extremely slick surface played into DeCaires’ advantage as he beat Andy Forsberg into turn one, and set up shop on the bottom of the speedway as he left the field in his wake.
Though a few caution flags would erase DeCaires’ lead, he continued to pull away, and be the dominant car on the track. As the race got into an extended green flag run and traffic came into play late, DeCaires would feel pressure from a hard charging Shane Golobic but the caution would fly on the 27th lap and clear things up for the 25-year sprint car veteran.
A great restart sealed the deal for the Elk Grove, CA driver as he went on to pick up his third win of the year, and earn a starting spot in the 55th Annual Johnny Key Classic coming up in August at the Ocean Speedway.
“It is always great to be on the front stretch after a race, and to do it against the Civil War Series is special,” DeCaires would add. “Like I said, this team is clicking right now, and it is a pleasure to drive for them.”
Greg DeCaires and the Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic, Foothill 7 TV, RedHawk Casino, Halk Equipment Rentals, NAAKE Suspension, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Frank’s Auto Body Shop, Hangtown Sheet Metal and Wesmar Racing Engines for their support.
2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 6, Wins- 3, Top-5’s-6, Top-10’s-6
ON TAP: DeCaires and the Miller Motorsports team will return to action on Saturday night as Championship racing returns to the Placerville Speedway.
