Cole Macedo Scores Pair of Top-5’s  In WA to Close High Limit Swing; Now Set to Take on World of Outlaws

PETERSEN MEDIA- With a busy swing with High Limit Racing out West now in the books, Cole Macedo and Tarlton Motorsports have another test in front of them; the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

“Overall, it was a pretty successful end to the High Limit Racing swing,” Cole Macedo said. “Drew Warner and the guys worked extremely hard and it was really a tough stretch dating back to Chico and then racing all the way up to Skagit, WA.”

Following an 11th place finish at Douglas County Dirtrack in Roseburg, OR, a tricky Grays Harbor Raceway threw many off, but not Macedo and the Tarlton Motorsports team.

Earning quick time honors in time trials, Macedo lined the Tarlton and Son Inc./Complete Parts and Equipment Solutions/Executive Auto Sales backed No. 21 up in the second row of his heat race. Battling to a second-place finish, Macedo locked into the Dash where a second place finish put him on the front row of the feature event.

After staling alongside Trey Starks, Macedo settled into second where he raced much of the night. Able to pressure Starks on a few occasions, Macedo settled into second until drifting back to a fifth place finish over the last four laps of the main.

Checking into Skagit Speedway on Thursday night, a tough qualifying effort put Macedo and company in a deep hole. After timing in 24th, a second place finish in heat race action was just good enough to sneak him into the feature event as he rolled off the starting grid from the 10th row.

Salvaging the night the best he could, Macedo worked his way forward and ended up 13th when the feature came to a close.

Back in action on Friday night for another complete program, Macedo got off to a much better start as he ended up sixth quickest in qualifications before advancing from 5th to 3rd in heat race competition.

Lining up sixth in the feature event, Macedo needed to keep his mount up front to tabulate a many point as possible to put himself in a good position for Saturday night’s finale.

Taking the green flag from sixth, Macedo was able to do just that as he worked his way into the Top-5 and finished fifth. With his finish and his point total, the Lemoore, CA driver rebounded well enough to be on the front row of a Saturday night heat race.

Starting on the outside front row of his heat, Macedo had hopes of getting the jump to lock into the Dash, but on this night the track was not kind to any of the outside starters.

Finishing third in his heat, Macedo was safely in the $102,626.26 to win feature event, but he took the green flag from the 13th starting position.

On a very even track, passing proved to be tricky with the top and the bottom both being extremely good. Spending much of the night battling to get into the Top-10, Macedo saw his West Coast High Limit Racing swing come to a close with an 11th place finish.

“Aside from Thursday night and not getting qualified well, I thought we raced well at Skagit,” Macedo said. “Overall, I thought we raced pretty well everywhere and that is a big credit to Drew and the guys, as well as the Tarlton family for providing us with really good equipment that can compete and run with the best around. We are all excited to see what we can do with the World of Outlaws this week.”

Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Tarlton and Son Inc., Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions, Executive Auto Sales, Durst, Tarlton Estate and Asset Management, Bandy and Associates, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, Willwood Brakes, Vortex Wings, and High Performance Lubricants for their support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 45, Wins: 4, Top 5’s: 25, Top 10’s: 29.
