PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing his very strong start to the 2024 NARC slate, Cole Macedo had another good showing with the series as he recorded two fourth place finishes and continues to sit atop the season long point standings after five nights of action.
“Friday night went well, I just didn’t draw well in the Dash draw and it put us in a bit of a hole for the feature,” Cole Macedo said. “Drew and the guys put a great car under me, and we were able to pick some a few spots int eh feature at finish fourth at the Thunderbowl.”
Checking into Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA on Saturday night, Macedo got the night off to a strong start as he timed the Tarlton and Son Inc./Complete Parts & Equipment Solutions/Durst backed No. 21 entry in seventh fastest in qualifying time trials.
Putting the Tarlton Motorsports car on the front row of his heat race, the Lemoore, CA driver got a great jump when the green flag dropped as he powered into the race lead. Keeping the top spot, Macedo held on to the win which put him solidly in the feature event and it also put him in the important Dash.
Pulling the five in the Dash, Macedo’s sixth place finish put him back in the third row to open up the 30-lap feature event. A pair of tangles hindered the start of the race and the third attempted start was the charm.
Jumping into fifth when the race finally went green, Macedo was up to fourth on the next lap as he chased after Dominic Scelzi, Caeden Steele, and Shane Golobic.
After the first two stoppages, the entirety of the 30-lapper went non-stop. Spending much of the race battling through traffic, Macedo challenge Steele a few times for a spot on the podium but eventually settled for a fourth-place finish.
A rare Sunday afternoon show saw the Tarlton Motorsports follow NARC up north as the series checked into Stockton Dirt Track for make up race from back in April.
Tricky track conditions threw everyone for a loop most of the night, but Macedo and company had an early handle on it as he earned quick time honors for the second time in two starts at the facility.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race on Sunday afternoon, Macedo’s third place finish put him in the Dash, where he found himself starting back in the sixth position.
Finishing fifth in the six-lap shootout, Macedo was set for the 30-lap feature event. Settling into fifth when the race came to life, Macedo minded his own business on the tricky surface. A lap 14 tangle amongst the leaders bumped Macedo up into third on a mid-race restart.
Running in third for a few laps, Macedo slipped back fourth on the 17th circuit. Making a couple late bids for third, Macedo capped his weekend off with a 4th place finish.
“Sunday was just a tough ordeal all around,” Macedo said. “I’m thankful we escaped in one piece and had another good finish with the series. Big thanks to both the Tarlton and Dyson families for being key factors in us competing at such a high level, as well as to Drew Warner and the guys for their hard work.”
