Cole Macedo Back in Victory Lane Friday Night in Chico, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA- Back in California over the weekend following a two-week stint in the Pacific Northwest, Cole Macedo and Tarlton Motorsports returned to their winning ways as Macedo picked up the win on Friday night before a third place finish with NARC during the David Tarter Memorial on Saturday.

“It was a great weekend,” Cole Macedo said. “Winning is always good for the team, and we backed that up with another solid NARC run on Saturday, so all in all were a pretty happy bunch.”

An unsanctioned Bill Brownell/Tommy Herseth Memorial opened the two-night event in Chico, CA up on Friday night where Macedo got his weekend underway by timing in fastest in qualifying time trials with 23 cars checked in for action.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Macedo had a strong Tarlton Motorsports mount under him as he powered to a second-place finish and earned a berth into the Dash.

Taking the green flag from the outside row two, Macedo continued to flex his muscle as he powered his way to a second-place finish which put him on the front row of the feature event.

Following a bit of a track work prior to Friday night feature events, Macedo jumped into the lead once the race got underway after a chaotic couple of attempts at bringing the action to life.

Out in front, Macedo was very strong as he was good in the heavy turns one and two, and just as good on the slick surface that made up turns three and four.

With traffic giving him fits at times and forcing him to slow his pace, Macedo was able to keep the likes of Andy Forsberg at bay as he raced to his fourth feature event win of the season with Tarlton Motorsports.

Back in action on Saturday night, the David Tarter Memorial was ran under NARC sanction and Macedo continued his Championship battle by timing in fifth quickest in time trails with 30 cars checked in.

Racing his way to a win in the heat race, Macedo’s eighth place finish in the Dash lined him up in the fourth row of the 35-lap feature event.

When the race came to life, Macedo picked up a couple of quick positions, but a misstep on the thick Silver Dollar Speedway cushion saw him get out of sorts as he fell back to 10th.

Once he got back up to speed, Macedo was able to begin his charge through the field as he was into fifth on the 14th lap and looking for more.

Following an open red flag, Macedo continued to run well as he worked into second on the 16th lap and chased after Justin Sanders. While chasing after Sanders in the closing laps, Macedo’s car started to go away in the final laps as he struggled at times to find grip.

Losing the runner up position, Macedo was able to secure a third place finish when the 35-lapper concluded.

“I just made an early mistake on the feature on Saturday and it cost us a few sports, but luckily my guys had a great car prepared and I was able to make up for lost ground,” Macedo said. “I faded a little at the end and gave up second, but a good weekend as we scored a win and a third place finish. I am really happy to be running so well right now for the Tarlton family and all of the great partenrs supporting us.”
