Carson Hammes Battles for 15th Place Finish at Marysville Raceway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back to Marysville Raceway on Saturday night just one week removed from his first career Sprint Car win, Carson Hammes and a bit of a tough night that ultimately saw him record a 15th place finish in the feature event.

“It was a bit of a tough night,” Carson Hammes said “The start of the feature didn’t go well, and the track was tough to make up lost ground on.”

With 25 cars checked into the pit area with the SCCT coming to town in just one week’s time, Hammes timed the STS Farming/All About Fire Protection backed No. 56C mount in 11th quick in qualifying time trials.

Recording a second place finish in his heat race, Hammes missed out on earning a berth into the redraw but was securely in the 25-lap feature as he took the green flag from the 13th starting position.

Getting out of sorts on the third lap as he jockeyed for position in tight knit pack, Hammes lost several positions as he slipped back to 17th.

Mired in the back of the pack amidst dense traffic, Hammes had troubles getting going as the surface was not conducive to a lot of passing on this night.

Stuck back in 17th much of the night, Hammes was able to get up to 15th on a pair of occasions, but more tight knit racing saw him to spend much of the night back in 17th.

Taking advantage of a couple of cars tangling late, and a late restart, Hammes was able to get up to 15th when the checkered flags were displayed to the field.

“We had a lot of great people helping us on Saturday, and I want to thank them all for coming out,” Hammes said. “Dillon, Junior, Evan, and Cody worked so hard on both of our cars. I also want to thank my parents, Dawson, and Ally for all they do four our team, as well as my Uncle Tony and Dennise for being at each and every race.”

Hammes Motorsports would like to thank Movement Brewing, STS Farming, All About Fire Protection, Summit Partners Burbank Agency, Escalera Inc., Harper Inc., and Ace Attorney Services for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 5, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 2, Top 10’s: 2
