Becker Pockets Pair of Top 10’s at Silver Dollar Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending the weekend in Chico, CA competing in 410 action with the Bjork Motorsports team, Sean Becker had two strong nights of racing that saw him finish fourth on Friday night before tallying a seventh place finish at the David Tarter Memorial on Saturday night.

“We had a fast car both nights, unfortunately some restart issues took us out of contention for a win in both features,” Sean Becker said. “Saturday was especially heartbreaking with what the Tarter Memorial means to everyone on this team, so that was a little disappointing but fortunately we get a chance for redemption Thursday night.”

The weekend kicked off on Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway with the Brownell/Herseth Memorial that was held as an unsanctioned 410ci race. Becker got the night started off in quick fashion as he timed in seventh quick amongst the 23 cars that checked into the pit area.

Finishing third in his heat race, Becker secured the ninth starting position for the 30-lap Friday night feature event.

A very slow start to the feature saw numerous stoppages hinder the action before a lap could even be recorded. The race ultimately started with the field in single file formation, and Becker was able to get off to a nice start once the action went green, as he was into fifth on the second lap.

Moving into fourth on the fourth lap, Becker was in third and moving by the seventh circuit. Running in third for much of the race, a late restart bunched the field up. When the race went back green, Becker slipped back to fourth and spent the final laps looking for a way back onto the podium, but ultimately ended up fourth when the checkered waived.

Saturday’s David Tarter Memorial brought the stars and cars of NARC to Chico, CA and Becker continued to show speed as he timed in second quickest in his qualifying flight.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, ‘The Shark’ finished fourth and locked into the Dash based on his qualifying efforts. Finishing fourth in the Dash, Becker was set for the 35-lap feature event where he rolled off the starting grid form the second row and chased after his second career David Tarter Memorial triumph.

Though the race had its share of issues in the early laps, Becker was able to hold status quo in fourth, until a bit of an extended run saw him race into second on the 13th lap, and then he drove around Justin Sanders to take the race lead on the 15th lap just before the red flag flew.

Officially the race leader, trouble struck when the action resumed, and Becker hit the thick cushion wrong on the restart and fell back to fifth.

Doing all he could to get going back towards the front, Becker slipped back to 10th at one point before he picked up a few positions late, and capped the night off with a seventh place finish.

“We have a super fast car, and I really want to get this team the win they deserve soon,” Becker added. “Thank you the Bjork Family, Brad Bumgarner, and everyone who helps us out.”
