Andy Forsberg 4th at Placerville Speedway As He Brings Point Lead Into Season Finale

PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Andy Forsberg remained in the driver’s season for the season long championship as he picked up a fourth-place finish and heads into Saturday’s finale with a slim nine point advantage over Bubba DeCaires.

“We had a solid night, but we will have to make sure we can be even better this week at the final points race,” Andy Forsberg. “I haven’t been able to get us timed in all that well and then despite being on the front row Saturday night, I flat got passed and it took us out of the redraw.”

With 25 cars on hand for the track’s penultimate race of the 2024 season, Forsberg timed the Meridian Cameras/Pacific Highway Rentals/Oroville Tax backed No. 92 entry in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Auburn, CA driver got the initial jump, but he soon felt pressure form youngster, Austin Wood. With Wood able to get by Forsberg, the veteran began his pursuit of the race leader.

Unable to get back to the top spot, Forsberg was safely in the feature event though by not making the redraw he lined up 10th on the extremely slick Placerville Speedway surface.

Following a quick rework of the surface before the feature event, the field was set for 25 laps on the bullring. The start of the race however, got off to a rough start and it set the tone for what was to come.

Despite the race being slowed by several cautions, Forsberg was able to keep his nose clean and march towards the front. Once he got into fourth, he was able to keep pace with third running Tanner Carrick, but the lead duo of Austin Wood and Chance Grasty had a much quicker pace going.

Though he closed in on Carrick, Forsberg soon felt pressure from both Tony Gomes and Bubba DeCaires and it turned into a battle between three of the championship contenders in the closing laps.

Hanging on to fourth, Forsberg closed the night out with the Top-5 result and picked up three points over DeCaires as he sits 9 points ahead of him heading into Saturday’s finale.

“It is crazy to me that we are already to the point season finale,” Forsberg added. “With how the season started with so many rain outs, and then the weird breaks we had in the schedule, it seemingly flew by. We will do our best to have everything in order for next weekend and see how it all plays out.”

Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Meridian Cameras, Pacific Highway Rentals, Oroville Tax, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, Western Featherlite, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-38, Wins-4, Top 5’s-19, Top 10’s-25
