PETERSEN MEDIA- Jonathan Allard had been in contention to win the Gold Cup Race of Champions in Chico, CA a few different times over his career, but on Saturday night, he finally got the monkey off of his back, as he picked up the elusive win out of turn four on the last lap.

“I can’t believe it,” Allard said. “It feels great to finally win the Gold Cup, and to finally get the first World of Outlaw win.”

With 38 cars in the pit area, Allard kicked his Saturday night off by timing the Tri-C Manufacturing/K&N/ButlerBuilt No. 3C machine in fourth fastest, putting him in the second row of a heat race.

Finishing fourth in his heat race, Allard would move on to the dash, where a second place finish would put him on the front row alongside Sean Becker.

Sitting in the second spot during the early portion of the feature event, Allard would slip back to the third spot on a lap 12 restart, as he now chased after Daryn Pittman and Sean Becker.

Biding his time, Allard would eventually get past Becker to take over the second spot, as he began his pursuit of race leader, Daryn Pittman.

Admittedly content in the second spot, Allard found some rubber on the speedway on the final lap, and was able to use it to get Pittman out of turn four, coming to the checkered flag to score his first Gold Cup triumph.

“It is just awesome,” he added. “I can’t thank my team and all of our sponsors enough. It was a tough week for us, so this is simply awesome.”

Taking part in the World of Outlaws entire West Coast swing, Allard’s busy week started at the Skagit Speedway in Alger, WA where he recorded finishes of 15th and 20th place.

Heading to the Gray’s Harbor Raceway on Monday night, Allard earned KSE Hard Charger honors as he scored a 12th place finish from his 19th starting spot.

Getting into Oregon on Tuesday night, Allard went from 16th to 11th at the Willamette Speedway before he charged from 14th to the ninth at the Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR.

Kicking off the Gold Cup on Friday night, Allard timed in 26th fastest, before he picked up a 19th place finish.

Following his big Gold Cup win, Allard was in action on Sunday night at the Antioch Speedway where a mechanical failure ended his night early.

“I can’t thank my guys enough for working so hard, in what was a really grueling week,” he said. “We seemed to have our fair share of bad luck, but like I said, picking up the Gold Cup win definitely takes some of the sting out. Huge thanks to Clyde and Marion Lamar for continuing to let us have some fun.”

Allard would like to thank Tri-C Manufacturing, K&N, ButlerBuilt, Platinum Powder Coating, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Red Line Oil, KSE Racing Products, Weld Wheels, NGK Spark Plugs, FK Rod Ends, Hunt Magnetos, Longacre Products, Ti64, A.R.T. Speed Equipment and Hoosier Tire for their support.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-53, Wins-10, Top 5’s-25, Top 10’s-35.

ON TAP: Allard and the Tri-C Motorsports team will resume their King of the West schedule this weekend where they invade the Santa Maria Speedway on Friday night before making their debut at Ventura on Saturday night.
