C&M Motorsports and Tony Gomes 11th at Fall Nationals
PETERSEN MEDIA- Fresh off of their Big Trophy Night triumph a couple weeks back at Placerville Speedway, Tony Gomes and C&M Motorsports checked in at Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday night for the Fall Nationals where they picked up an 11th place finish.

“I didn’t get us timed in very well, and that put us in a big hole which is tough at this race with a lot of good cars,” Tony Gomes said. “We raced well and got back what we could and at the end of the day we finished 11th.”

Utilizing split field qualifying, Gomes timed the Anrak/Sam Rhodes/Alturas Tires backed No. 7C mount in 13th  fastest in his group which put him near the tail of his heat race.

Needing to make some headway to transfer directly into the feature event, the Modesto, CA driver did just that as he was able to carve his way forward a few spots and battle for a transfer spot.

Getting into fifth, Gomes was able to hold off his challengers as the finish locked him into the 35-lap feature event where he lined up in the 17th starting position for the feature event.

From the ninth row starting position, Gomes was able to make up a few spots early in the race as a couple of stoppages bunched the field up. Getting neat the Top-10, Gomes found himself in 11th as the race got in an extended green flag run.

The longer the run went, the more strung out the field got and making up ground and gaining track position seemingly got more difficult. Trying a few different lines in the race’s closing laps, Gomes was unable to quite get into the Top-10 but did cap his night and weekend off with an 11th place finish.

“Saturday night brought out season to a close, and I just need to continue to thank Cody and Mandi for the opportunity they give me in a great car,” Gomes added. “They took a chance on me, and it means so much they stick with me. Cody works so hard on this car and he has some great help with the likes of Bobby and John and I thank those guys as well for their hard work. We had a pretty good end to the season and I cant wait for March to start again.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Lund Construction, Anrak, Sam Rhodes, Alturas Tires, Swartz Diesel, Adrian Blanco Jewelry, Kings Meats, American Paving Systems, PT Shocks, Creason Enterprises, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
