PETERSEN MEDIA- Failing to make the show at Calistoga Speedway on Saturday night during the Dirt Classic, Cody Lamar bounced right back on Sunday night as he charged from 17th to finish seventh during the ‘Fair Race’ at Petaluma Speedway.

“It took me a little while to get going at Calistoga as I hadn’t been there in five years or so,” Cody Lamar said. “The slow start cost us, and we were unable to make the feature event.”

A total of 45 cars checked into the hallowed grounds of Calistoga Speedway for the Dirt Classic benefitting the Boys and Girls Club of St. Helena and Calistoga, and Lamar would time the A1 Septic/Joe Hunt Magnetos/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 9L entry in 11th fastest in his time trial group.

Lining up 11th for his heat race, Lamar would pick up a couple of positions early until debris would get into his radiator and slow him down as he held on to finish in the eighth position.

Moving into the 12 lap ‘B’ Main event, Lamar would have his work cut out for him as he lined up in the 14th starting position needing to finish in the Top-Eight to keep his night going.

Struggling to gain ground in the semi, the Sacramento, CA driver would finish right where he started as his night ended with a 14th place run in the semi.

Regrouping and heading to Petaluma Speedway on Sunday night to take part in a PitStopUSA Shootout race during the Sonoma-Marin County Fair, Lamar would get off to another slow start as he timed in 13th fastest on a track that still had some grease spots on it.

Lining up 17th in the feature event on a surface that was locked down, Lamar’s decision to travel to the track nearly every week paid off as he was able to make up ground during the 25-lap affair.

Clawing his way forward, Lamar would end his weekend on a positive as he forged his way forward to finish in the seventh spot.

“We started slow on Sunday night as well, but we kept going and ended up turning it into a good night with a nice run to seventh,” Lamar added.

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-13, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 4, Top 10’s-6

ON TAP: Lamar will return to action on Sunday night when he travels to Stockton, CA with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.
