PETERSEN MEDIA- A busy weekend of Sprint Car Challenge Tour racing action for Tony Gualda and C&M Motorsports saw the Hollister, CA driver finish fourth on Saturday night in Placerville, CA before overcoming early issues on Sunday night in Petaluma, CA to finish 10th.
“Overall it was a good weekend for our race team, which was nice after a stretch of some tough nights,” Tony Gualda said. “I have to thank Cody, Mandy, MF, and everyone that supports us week in and week out.”
Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Gualda would get the night started off by timing the Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/Dassel’s Petroleum backed No. 7c machine in second quickest in his time trial group.
Moving into heat race action, Gualda would make a nice move to sneak into second, where he would finish, and it would place him in the fifth row for the 35-lap feature event.
An early restart while running in the Top-10 would see a car get out of sorts in front of Gualda forcing him to lift and slip all the way back to the 15th position on the track.
On the slick ¼ mile, Gualda would get his wing back to help with some traction as he went to working racing his way through the field. Bobbing and weaving, going high and low, Gualda would do a great job of rebounding and racing his way to a fourth place finish to cap the night.
Traveling to Petaluma Speedway for a rare Sunday program, issues in time trials would put Gualda at the back of his heat race. Able to sneak into the fifth and final transfer position, Gualda would line up 20th in the feature event on a track that was slick and prone to passing.
Just as he did on Saturday night, Gualda was on a rail as he worked his way forward and got into seventh during the waning laps of the race. Getting up top in three and foul late, Gualda would get in the marbles would see him get loose and it would cause him to give up a couple of positions.
When the checkered flag flew on the busy weekend, Gualda capped his night with a 10th place finish.
“Really cool to come forward like we did both nights,’ Tony Gualda said. “We obviously want to be a few spots better, and we will get back after on Thursday at Placerville Speedway.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, Dassel’s Petroleum, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports will return to racing action on Thursday night in Placerville, CA.
