PETERSEN MEDIA- It wasn’t the best night of the season for Tony Gualda and the C&M Motorsports team, but despite a slow start the team never threw the towel in as Gualda fought threw the Last Chance Showdown to pick up a 16th place finish in the feature event on Saturday night in Fernley, NV.

“It was neat to get out to a place that I had never seen before, I just wish we would have been able to run a little better,” Tony Gualda said. “We didn’t time in well at all and that put us in catch up mode all night long.”

Timing the PitStopUSA/Autism Awareness/Pacific Highway Rentals sprinter in sixth quickest in his qualifying group, the Hollister, CA driver would record a sixth place finish in his heat race and be forced into the semi.

On the slick Fernley 95A Speedway surface, Gualda was able to pick up a third place finish and earn a transfer spot into the 35-lap ‘A’ main event.

Lining the Moorefield Construction, Inc./PT Shocks/51 Fifty Energy drink backed No. 7c machine up in the 19th starting position.

From the back of the back, Gualda would take to the bottom of the speedway like the rest of the field and make laps aboard the C&M Motorsports KPC. Picking up a few positions over the course of the night, Gualda would end up finish in the 16th spot.

“I hate to finish that far back for our race team, but we will continue to work and I will do all I can to get better in the seat and make good decisions,” Gualda noted. “Cody and Darrin worked extremely hard to get this newer car we brought out better each time we hit the track.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank PitStopUSA, Autism Awareness, Pacific Highway Rentals, Moorefield Construction, Inc., PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, 51 Fifty Energy Drink, Alturas Tires, and Velocity Race Gear and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: The C&M Motorsports and Tony Gualda return to action on Saturday night in Placerville, CA for the annual Tribute to Al Hinds event.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-26, Wins-0, Top 5’s-6, Top 10’s-13.
