PETERSEN MEDIA- Tony Gualda put a tough ending to his Friday night run at Placerville Speedway behind him and took home an 11th place finish on Saturday night in Stockton, CA with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

“We actually had a really good car both nights,” Tony Gualda said. “I got into the wall and got a flat late in the race at Placerville, and had a good finish on Saturday against another really strong field of cars.”

Friday night kicked off a Sprint Car Challenge Tour Double Header weekend, and Gualda would time the PitStopUSA/Autism Awareness/Pacific Highway Rentals No. 7C sprinter in second fastest in his group and third fastest overall of all the cars checked in at Placerville Speedway.

Turning in a very impressive run in his heat race that saw him make some big moves on the cushion, Gualda would finish in the third position and earn a spot in the Dash based on his time trial efforts. Running third in the Dash, the Hollister, CA pilot gridded the field from the second row for the 40-lap feature event.

When the race came to life, Gualda found himself in the fifth spot as he continued to pound the Placerville Speedway cushion that had built up all the way around the speedway. Running fifth and looking strong, turn four’s exit would prove to get tricky as the night went on and it would bite Gualda as he came to a stop on the 20th lap with a flat right-rear after contact with the wall.

Making the change, Gualda would come back out only to still have damage form the incident as his night came to a close on the 31st lap.

Regrouping, Gualda and the C&M Motorsports team headed to Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night where Gualda again got off to a good start as he timed the Moorefield Construction/PT Shocks/51 Fifty Energy Drink machine in second quickest in his group and seventh fastest overall.

Starting and finishing third in his heat race on the slick surface, Gualda would miss out on the Dash, which placed him 14th on the starting grid for the 35-lap affair.

Getting off to a very good start, Gualda would work his way inside the Top-10 as he got as high as the ninth spot before rubber began going down around the race’s halfway point.

Continuing to run inside the Top-10, a late restart would hurt Gualda as he lost a pair of positions and closed his weekend out with an 11th place finish.

“I really have to thank Cody and Darin for all they do on this car, and for me as a diver,” Gualda said. “We are getting better each time out, and they are helping me a ton.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank PitStopUSA, Autism Awareness, Pacific Highway Rentals, Moorefield Construction, Inc., PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, 51 Fifty Energy Drink, Alturas Tires, and Velocity Race Gear and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: The C&M Motorsports team will travel to Petaluma Speedway on Sept. 9th.
