PETERSEN MEDIA: With the point season at Placerville Speedway entering its home stretch, Steven Tiner tightened the battle up on Saturday night as he brought home a hard fought fifth place finish.
“Saturday night was pretty tricky,” Steven Tiner said. “The track was pretty cowboy up so you had to really be on your toes. We led early, battled hard in the Top-Three before a huge wheel stand on a late restart dropped us back to fifth.”
Timing the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious backed No. 94 entry in 14th quickest in qualifying time trials, the Visalia, CA resident would race his way to a heat race win and earn a spot in the redraw.
Pulling the four pill, Tiner would line up in the second row of the 25-lap affair. Getting a great start, Tiner would jump into the second position as he hounded early leader, Colby Copeland.
Getting into the lead following a lap three restart, Tiner would look very strong out front as he fended off Michael Kofoid as he maneuvered around the hooked up and rough Placerville Speedway surface.
Surrendering the top spot on the 16th circuit, Tiner would find himself in a hard fought battle with Justin Sanders for the second spot, and would end up slipping back to third just before the caution flew on the 21st lap.
The ensuring restart would see Tiner pull a massive wheel stand and it would result in him falling back to the fifth spot where he would end up taking the checkered flag.
“We just need to be a little bit better when it stays that fast,” Tiner said. “Overall we ran well, and had a good finish, so we will keep working at it and continue to try and run up front.”
Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.
