PETERSEN MEDIA: Continuing to be extremely fast at Placerville Speedway, Steven Tiner showed out with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday night as he picked up a fifth place finish.
“We have kind of struggled with the SCCT all year, so to get a Top-Five is definitely a positive,” Tiner said. “We have been fast at Placerville Speedway all year, so it was nice to continue to run well there.”
Just missing the inversion in his heat race, Tiner would line up in the fifth starting spot. Turning in a very impressive run, Tiner would work his way up to a second place finish which put him 10th on the starting grid for the 40-lap feature event.
On a slick and racy surface, Tiner was able to move forward nicely in what was a star-studded feature event field. From his fifth row starting position, the Visalia, CA pilot had his Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious backed No. 94 machine working well on the cushion.
When the first caution flag of the night flew on the 20th lap, Tiner ran in the sixth spot with another 20-laps left on the docket. When the race resumed, Tiner would hook up in a battle for fifth with DJ Netto and was able to take the spot before the caution flag flew again on the 31st circuit. Chasing after Justyn Cox in the final laps, Tiner brought his night to a close with a fifth place finish.
Traveling to Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night for another Sprint Car Challenge Tour event, Tiner would open his night up by timing the Deli Delicious/Powder Coat-It/SRP backed No. 94 machine in sixth quickest in his qualifying group.
Moving into heat race action, Tiner’s night would take a turn for the worse when he would be plagued with mechanical issues at the end of his heat race. Assessing the situation fully back in the pit area, Tiner’s night would be over.
“Racing has it’s highs and lows,” Tiner added. “We had a good night Friday, and unfortunately had some bad luck on Saturday. We will regroup and be back at Placerville Speedway in a couple of weeks.”
Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Deli Delicious, Fisher Racing Engines, Powder Coat-It, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.
