PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking to the Jackson Motorplex on Saturday night in both the 360 and 410 car, Tim Kaeding would run second in 360 competition before a hard charge in the 410 race saw him finish sixth.
“We had two really fast cars,” Tim Kaeding said. “The 360 race, we were really good from the front row, but a power steering line blew pretty early and we ended up falling back to second.”
Picking up the heat race win aboard the Folkens Bros. Trucking/Dammer Trucking/East River Homes machine, the San Jose, CA native would pull the one pill in the redraw and take the green flag from the pole for the 25-lap affair.
On the slick ½ mile speedway, Kaeding was really strong early in the nice as he left the filed in his wake as the race came to life. Admittedly having a power steering line blow out on the 10th lap, Kaeding would have to muscle his machine around the speedway for much of the race.
Leading the first 15 laps of the race, Kaeding would see Sam Hafertepe overtake him for the top spot. Doing all he could to hang on, TK would take the checkered flag in the second position.
Getting behind the eight ball early in time trials in the 410 program, Kaeding would do as he did in the 360ci car, and win the heat race. Not having quite as good of a starting position in this feature, Kaeding would take the green flag from the 18th starting position.
From the back of the pack, TK thrilled the crowd as put his machine wherever there was open space as he raced his way forward. Making some swift moves, TK would roll on to finish in the sixth position.
“We got behind in time trials in the 410, and that really set us back in the feature,” TK added. “From 18th I did everything I could to work forward, and we came away with a sixth place finish.”
The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Folkens Bros. Trucking, Dammer Trucking, Mihm Trucking, Yager Agriculture Supply, Matt’s Repair, East River Homes, and Trac2Trail Arctic Cat for their support in 2017.
