PETERSEN MEDIA: Sneaking in a race in Hanford, CA on Saturday night, Steven Tiner would get off to a great start before his night would end battling for the lead just before the race’s halfway point.
“We had a really good racecar, and you hate to tear it up battling for the lead,” Steven Tiner said. “The way the track was you had to slide up to pass, and unfortunately some contact when we were racing hard ended our night.”
Tiner kicked Saturday night off by timing the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Fisher Racing Engines entry in fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race by way of the four car inversion, Tiner would pick off a couple of cars as he finished second and earned a spot in the Dash.
Starting and finishing fourth in the Dash, Tiner would be in a good spot for the feature event as the high side looked to be the best way around the re-configured Keller Auto Speedway.
When the race came to life, Tiner was shot out of a cannon and jumped to the lead on the race’s opening circuit and began to set a torrid pace running the high scary side.
Continuing to lead the way, a caution on the 11th lap would bunch the field back up. The ensuing restart would see Tiner and Cole Macedo exchange the top spot as the duo swapped position at each end of the race track.
Looking to make a move out of turn four, Tiner and Macedo would continue to battle it out but the duo would make contact and Tiner would spin into the front stretch retaining wall and his night would come to an end.
“It was good to roll out another car and have some really good speed,” Tiner added. “We will get back up to Placerville Speedway this weekend and try to get back into victory lane.”
Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Fisher Racing Engines, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.
2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-6, Wins-1, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2
ON TAP: Tiner will be back at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
