PETERSEN MEDIA: Making the annual tow to Oregon over the last week to take part in Speedweek Northwest, Steven Tiner would flex his muscles a little and score his second feature event win of the season as he decimated the field on Thursday night in Banks, OR.

“It was a decent trip for us” Steven Tiner said. “We were pretty solid all week long and it was great to get back in victory lane and win another Speedweek race.”

The annual voyage kicked off on Tuesday night as Tiner Checked in at Coos Bay Speedway in Coos Bay, OR to open the five-race stretch. Timing in 11th quickest in time trials, Tiner would race his way to a heat race win and find himself seventh on the starting grid for the feature event.

Getting off to a nice start, Tiner would jump up into the Top-Five as he battled with fellow Californian, Lucas Ashe, and Buddy Kofoid. Getting as high as fourth late in the feature event, one final restart would see the Visalia, CA driver close the opener out with a fifth place finish.

Lebanon, OR was the scene for night two on Wednesday night and Tiner would time the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Fisher Racing Engines machine in sixth quickest in time trials.

Finishing fourth in his heat race, Tiner would line up in the seventh spot in the feature event on a surface that was just about taking rubber prior to the green flag dropping. Once underway, rubber would quickly go down in the racing groove as Tiner settled into sixth.

Hitting his marks and keeping his tires underneath him, a quick feature event would click off as Tiner accepted the checkered in the sixth spot as his attention quickly shifted to Banks, OR and Sunset Speedway.

Timing the Steven Tiner Racing entry in second fastest at Sunset Speedway, Tiner would put the field on notice in his heat race as he charged from sixth to pick up the win.

Running second in the Dash to Jason Solwold, Tiner would take the green flag for the 30-lap feature event from the outside of the front row. When the race came to life, Tiner jumped out to the early lead and simply never looked back.

Having his way with traffic, Tiner would open up a very sizeable lead as the race was never in question. Taking care of business, Tiner would turn in a dominating performance that culminated with him parking his machine in victory lane.

The final two-nights of action took place at Cottage Grove Speedway, a track that Tiner always enjoys getting to.

Timing in 16th quickest in qualifying time trials, Tiner would finish third in his heat race. Starting in the eighth row of the feature event, the defending Placerville Speedway track champion was unable to really get going as he struggled a bit and ended up finish 15th.

Hoping to redeem himself during the Speedweek Northwest finale, Tiner would get off to a much better start as he timed in sixth quickest in his qualifying group.

Finishing second in his heat race, Tiner would miss a berth in the Dash as he would find himself eighth on the starting grid for the final 30-lap feature event of the week.

From the fourth row, Tiner was able to mix it up a little bit on this night as he raced hard for a top-five finish. Searching around the ¼ mile bullring, Tiner would close his Speedweek out with a sixth place finish in the race and fourth place finish in the overall points.

“It was a ton of fun to get up and run the entire Speedweek,” Tiner said. “We had some ups and downs but that is the good and bad of a week like this. It was good to pick up a win and reconnect with some friends and fans from over the years. I am very lucky to have some great partners and supporters that allow me to do this.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Fisher Racing Engines, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-21, Wins-2, Top 5’s-5, Top 10’s-13

ON TAP: Fresh off of a busy week, Tiner’s next race is to be determined still.
