PETERSEN MEDIA: Following an extended break from racing, Steven Tiner returned over the weekend as he finished ninth on Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway before landing on the podium Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
“With getting the new business going this summer, racing kind of got put on the back burner but it felt great to get back in the car over the weekend,” Steven Tiner said. Friday night tried some things and got off to a slow start but rallied from 14th to 9th, and on Saturday I made a mistake late that cost us a shot at the win and we rolled it in the box with a third place finish.”
Checking in at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night for the first time in a couple of years, Steven Tiner timed the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Fisher Racing Engines entry in 14th fastest amongst the 20 drivers checked into the pit area.
Running fifth in his heat race, Tiner was pleased with how things felt but continued to work in his machine prior to the feature event where he would roll off from the 14th starting position. With the track staying hooked up on this night, Tiner would get off to a nice start as he settled into 10th where he would run during the opening 21 laps that clicked off non-stop.
The lone restart of the night would see the Sacramento, CA driver pick up another spot as he would close the night out with a ninth place finish.
Saturday night Tiner and company made the trip to Placerville Speedway where he took part in the track’s penultimate weekly race.
Things got off to a much better start for the 2017 Track Champion as he would time his STR No. 94 machine in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials which lined him up in the second row of his heat race.
Finishing third in his heat race behind Andy Forbserg and Tony Gualda, Tiner would earn a spot in the redraw where the number six lined him up in the third row fro the 25-lap finale.
With the top being the dominant line on this night, Tiner would go work as he sliced and diced his way through the lead pack.
Moving into the Top-Five on the races’ sixth lap, Tiner would continue to rail the cushion as he got as high as routh on the eighth lap.
Battling for third, Tiner would hold the position on the ninth lap only to fall back to fourth one lap later.
Moving into third on lap 16, Tiner would begin chasing after the lead duo of Andy Forsberg and Justyn Cox with time running out. Bobbling while reeling the duo in, they would get away and Tiner would up taking the checkered flag in the third position.
“It was a great weekend to get going again,” Tiner said. “It was a ton of fun, and it was great to get back and see so many fans and friends. Big thanks to everyone that helps me out, and lends us a hand when we get out here.”
Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Fisher Racing Engines, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.
