PETERSEN MEDIA- Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Jason Statler kicked his season off with the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster where he put together a nice charge in the feature event to record a sixth place finish.
“I was definitely a little rusty early in the night, but my tongue wasn’t hanging out of my mouth too bad, and we have a nice result to show for it,” Jason Statler said.
Timing his DF Rios Motorsports/Amerikote/Riley Collins Auto Body No. 00 machine in 18th fastest amongst the 43 cars that were checked into the pit area, ‘The Big Guy’ would advance to the fourth spot in his heat race and transfer directly into the nights’ 30-lap A Main event.
Gridding the field from the 16th spot, Statler would slowly get his machine moving in the right direction. Admittedly taking him a few laps to get comfortable in the car following the long off-season, Statler was able to get around some strong cars.
A very racy and technical Silver Dollar Speedway made for some tight knit racing, and Statler proved to be up to the challenge. After a pair of early stoppages, the race got into an extended green flag run for 14 laps, and the Grass Valley, CA driver was able to work his way up into the seventh spot.
Taking advantage of a competitors late flat tire, Statler would move into the sixth spot as he gave Mason Moore a strong chase for fifth in the closing laps.
When the dust settled on the feature, Statler ended his night with a nice run from 16th to sixth.
“A the end of the day we were racy, and didn’t have any major issues which is sometimes a challenge during your opener,” Statler said. “The guys did a great job all night long, and we will try it again in a few weeks.”
Jason Statler would like to thank DF Rios Motorsports, Amerikote, Riley Collins Auto Body, SCI, Kaeding Performance, Kistler Racing Engines, Simpson Race Products, Yak Graphics, Factory Kahne Shocks, Ultra Shield, Rod End Supply, Santomauro, and Stephanie’s Custom Interior for their continued support.
ON TAP: Statler and his team will be back in action on April 15th at the Silver Dollar Speedway.
