PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing his quest for the 2018 King of the West Championship with Tarlton Motorsports, Shane Golobic continued his strong campaign to date as he found himself back on the podium by way of his third place finish on Saturday night at Petaluma Speedway.
“I finally was able to get our car timed in much better and it made things a tad bit easier early in the night,” Shane Golobic said. “We got in the Dash which was huge but I made a couple of mistakes and it dropped us back to the third row for the feature event.”
Timing the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino/Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc. No. 21x entry in second quickest in qualifying time trials, the Fremont, CA driver would proceed to finish third which would prove good enough to move him into the Dash.
Lining up fourth in the six-lap Dash that would set the first three rows of the 30-lap feature event, Golobic would slip back as his sixth place finish put him in the sixth starting position on the always exciting Petaluma Adobe surface.
When the feature event came to life, Golobic was able to utilize his potent Tarlton Motorsports entry, as he was able to work his way forward around the bay area speed plant as he has done so many times over the course of his career.
As the laps clicked down, Golobic seemingly got stronger and stronger as he was able to work into third and chase after Kyle Hirst and Colby Copeland. Closing in on the lead duo as the laps clicked off, Golobic would not have enough time to mount a bid at the top two spots as he took the checkered flag with a third place finish.
“Paul, Tyrone, and Norm worked hard to give me a fast racecar, and I really believe we had of the fastest cars towards the end of the race,” Golobic added. “I needed to be a little better myself in the Dash and at the beginning of the feature, but still a good result. I am thankful the Tarlton’s give me an opportunity to drive their race car each week and I am going to continue to make myself better so we can end up atop the podium more often.”
Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Yokut Gas, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support.
BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 8, Wins: 2, Top 5’s: 8, Top 10’s: 8.
