PETERSEN MEDIA: Bouncing back from a rough outing at the Placerville Speedway, Seth Nunes and his team made the trip to the Petaluma Speedway for the fifth round of Civil War Series action at car owners, Jim and Annette Van Lare’s home track, where he would finish 11th during a non-stop feature event.
“It was a decent night overall for us, we had some bad luck in our heat but had a good starting spot in the A and battled for a Top-10 during a non-stop feature event,” Seth Nunes said.
Timing the Jim and Annette Van Lare owned No. 5v machine in seventh fastest, Nunes would find himself on the front row of his heat race. Getting out to the early lead, Nunes would feel pressure from Sean Becker but would keep the former series champion at bay until a late restart.
Seeing Becker get by him late, Nunes would hang to finish in the second spot and his team would notice a broken section to the rear of his frame once he returned to the pit area. Making repairs to the Napa Auto Parts/Lucas Oil Products/VSR Steering Repair entry, Nunes would miss the call for the Dash, though would get credited with an eighth place finish, placing him in the fourth row for the feature event.
A tricky Petaluma Speedway surface would offer Nunes and the rest of the field a tricky surface, but most would adapt as the race would be run in just over seven minutes as it went 30-laps non stop.
Battling for a Top-10 position for the duration of the race Nunes would race with Michael Ing and Cody Lamar as the trio jockeyed for track position. When the fast paced race came to a close, Nunes would bring his machine home with an 11th place finish.
“It was a tricky surface, and we weren’t really to get moving forward,” Nunes added. “I have to thank Jim and Annette Van Lare and the team for their continued hard work. We will be off this weekend but have a busy weekend on tap next week.”
Seth would like to thank Napa Auto Parts, Lucas Oil Products, VSR Steering Repair, Bianchi Farms, Cameron and Cameron Ranch & Vineyard Supply, CCI, and Awesome Racewear for their support in 2016.
ON TAP: Seth will be back in action on July 3rd at the Petaluma Speedway and on July 4th at the Silver Dollar Speedway.
2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-13, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2
