PETERSEN MEDIA: Overcoming so early tough luck in his heat race, Seth Nunes would rebound nicely at the Marysville Raceway on Saturday night as he came from the B Main to finish 10th with the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster during the 17th Annual Mel Hall Memorial.

“Saturday night we had some really good speed, but had a little bad luck that set us back,” Nunes said. “Sunday night was kind of a struggle all night and made for a long night.”

Timing the Napa Auto Parts/Lucas Oil Products/VSR Steering Repair No. 5v machine in 16th fastest in time trials, Nunes would find himself on the front row of his heat race.

On a racy Marysville Raceway surface, Nunes jumped out to the early lead as he looked for the win to qualify himself for the Dash. Out to a comfortable lead, Nunes would have a part fail in his front end suspension and he would come into contact with the turn four wall.  Though he hung on as long as he could, Nunes would finally come to a stop with a flat tire and be forced into the B Main.

Finishing fourth in the night’s semi main, the Medford, OR driver would grid the field from the 20th starting spot in the 30-lap feature event. Biding his time from the back of the pack aboard his Bianchi Farms/Cameron and Cameron Ranch and Vineyard Supply/CCI backed entry, Nunes slowly worked his way through the field.

Taking advantage of restarts on lap seven and 21, Nunes would close his night out with his third Top-10 finish of the year.

Heading to the Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday night with the Jim and Annette Van Lare owned No. 5v, Nunes would time in 12th fastest in his qualifying flight.

Having his share of bad luck in the heat, a bent front axle would force him out of the race and into the night’s B Main for one final shot of transferring into the 30-lap feature event.

Lining up in the sixth row, Nunes would work his way up to the eighth spot and miss the transfer by just two positions and his night would come to a close.

“It was disappointing to struggle on Sunday night, but I have to thank Jim and Annette Van Lare and their team for all they do for me,” Nunes added. “It was good to get a Top-10 out of the weekend on Saturday and hopefully we can run well at Chico this coming weekend.”

Seth would like to thank Napa Auto Parts, Lucas Oil Products, VSR Steering Repair, Bianchi Farms, Cameron and Cameron Ranch & Vineyard Supply, CCI, and Awesome Racewear for their support in 2016.

ON TAP: Seth will back in Chico, CA this coming Friday and Saturday night aboard the Jim and Annette Van Lare owned No. 5v.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-8, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2
