PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking advantage of an opportunity to pilot his WRS teammate, Nathan Rolfe’s 360 on Saturday night at Petaluma Speedway, Sean Watts made his return to the King of the West Series after a couple weekends of bad luck left him on the sidelines.
“I really have to thank the Rolfe family for letting me run their 360 car, and allowing me to get back to racing,” Sean Watts said. “We were obviously under powered with the King of the West Series, but it was great to get back out there.”
With 26 cars on hand Saturday night in Petaluma, CA, Watts would time the WRS No. 98 machine in 14th quickest in qualifying time trials which put him just outside the heat race inversion and back in the third row.
Racing his way to a fourth place finish, the Atwater, CA driver would make the transfer directly into the 30-lap feature event where he would take the green flag from the 14th starting position.
From the seventh row, Watts would get off to a nice start as he picked up a couple of early spots on the Petaluma Speedway’s famous gumbo surface. A handful of laps into the race, Watts would have a shock fail and things would get tricky as the handling on his car would go by the wayside.
Doing what he could to keep his machine pointed in the right direction, Watts would back down a little as he continued to make laps and keep his nose clean. After a hard fought 30-laps, Watts would take the checkered flag in 13th.
“We had a pretty good night going considering everything, but unfortunately we lost a shock early in the feature,” Watts said. “It was a handful so I just kind of limped around the speedway doing all I could. Again, I really have to thank everyone who made this possible, and the way it is looking now some really great people may just make it possible to get our car back out in two weeks at Watsonville and Calistoga.”
Sean and the Watts Rolfe Speed-Sports team would like to thank Grizzly Coolers, Schaeffer Racing Oil, Rolfe Construction, Billet America, Darrel Varni Electric, Kaeding Performance, Shannon Pumps, Stealth Homes, Tee’s and Tops, Team Simpson, Kistler Racing Engines, and Stan Yockey Motorsports for their continued support.
