PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting two nights of racing action in over the weekend in Chico, CA, Sean Watts would pick up a 14th place finish Friday night during the Bill Brownell Memorial before a very eventful Saturday night saw an early tangle knock him out of the Dave Bradway, Jr Memorial feature event.

“Friday night was an okay night, but Saturday was pretty eventful,” Sean Watts said. “We blew an engine in time trials, got it swapped for the heat and transferred to the feature. In the feature we got caught up in a couple early tangles that eventually ended our night.”

Kicking a busy weekend off on Friday night, Watts timed the Grizzly Coolers/Schaeffer Racing Oil/Rolfe Construction backed No. 98 machine in 24th quickest in qualifying time trials.

Finishing fifth in his heat race, the Atwater, CA driver would be forced into the semi where he would take the green flag from the seventh starting position. Getting his elbows up, Watts would turn in some nice laps and race his way to a third place finish which transferred him into the feature event.

Lining up 17th on the starting grid, Watts would continue to work his way forward against a pretty stout field. Making up some ground during the 30-lap affair he would close his night out with a 14th place finish.

Saturday night saw the WRS team return to Silver Dollar Speedway for KWS action in what was the Dave Bradway, Jr Memorial. Having an engine expire in time trials, Watts would just narrowly miss the heat race inversion as he ended up 17th quickest aboard the Billet America/Darrel Varni Electric/Kaeding Performance entry.

Thrashing to get his engine swapped, Watts would make the call for the heat race where he would race his way to a fourth place finish and punch his ticket into the 40-lap feature event.

When the race came to life, Watts would get involved in an early yellow on the fourth lap that saw him come to a stop and go to the tail end of the field. Coming back to life, another incident on the ninth lap would see near contact cause Watts to spin and that being his second yellow, Watts’ night would come to an early end.

“I really have to thank everyone that stepped in and helped us change our engine in a hurry,” Watts said. “It was and up and down weekend and I really have to thank my guys for working so hard. Our results don’t show it yet but I really feel like we are getting there.”

Sean and the Watts Rolfe Speed-Sports team would like to thank Grizzly Coolers, Schaeffer Racing Oil, Rolfe Construction, Billet America, Darrel Varni Electric, Kaeding Performance, Shannon Pumps, Stealth Homes, Tee’s and Tops, Team Simpson, Kistler Racing Engines, and Stan Yockey Motorsports for their continued support.
