PETERSEN MEDIA- Bouncing back from an early incident during Wednesday’s Platinum Cup feature event, Justin Sanders and Dale Miller were very strong during Thursday’s finale as they picked up a fourth place finish.
“Unfortunately Wednesday night ended just as the feature started, but we came back even better on Thursday and really had a good run,” Justin Sanders said.
Timing the Thompson’s Buick-GMC/Thompson’s Jeep-Ram/Dale Miller Septic, Inc. backed No. 4SA machine in fourth fastest in his time trial flight, the Aromas, CA driver would run second in his heat race to Bud Kaeding.
With only heat race winners making the Dash on this night with the Top-4 from Wednesday already locked in, Sanders would take the green flag from the 12thstarting position for the scheduled 40-lap feature event.
On an extremely slick surface that would ultimately take rubber, Sanders flexed his muscle as he worked his way through the field. Working inside the Top-10 with the waiving of the green, Sanders would climb up into the sixth position by the race’s ninth circuit.
With track conditions deteriorating, officials opted to cut 10-laps off the feature and alert the drivers that it was now 30-laps under a lap 16 caution. When the race resumed, Sanders would work his way up to fifth, before taking over the fourth position on the 23rdlap.
Keeping his machine in the rubber in the waning laps, Sanders would cap a very strong run from 12thas he took the checkered flag in the fourth spot.
“It was tricky, but he had a really good car as was able to make some moves as things opened up in front of us,” Sanders said. “Thanks to Dale and Tara Miller, and all the guys who continually work so hard on this car.”
The Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Thompson’s Buick-GMC, Thompson’s Jeep-Ram, Dale Miller Septic, Inc., North County Plastering, Anrak Corporation, Yuba-Sutter Aviation, Frank’s Body Shop, Wion’s Powder Coating, Walker Performance Filtration, Factory Kahne Shocks, Smith Titanium, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., King Racing Products, A.R.T.
