Rough ‘Norcal’ Trip for Meyers

PETERSEN MEDIA- Hoping his Tarlton Racing team had learned a few things in Tulare last weekend, Jason Meyers and his team had one of those weekends they would like to forget about as they tackled the new Stockton 99 Speedway, and the Silver Dollar Speedway with the World of Outlaws.

“We were off again, and it is not without effort of trying to get things figured out,” Meyers said. “We had a hard week of work hoping to be competitive this weekend, and we were not.”

Friday night saw the Corporate Lending America/Tarlton and Son/Bandy and Associates mount time in 26th fastest, putting him well behind the heat race inversion.

Starting seventh in his heat, Meyers was unable to get the Pro Signs/BG Lubricants/All Star Performance machine moving forward, and he tallied a seventh place finish, putting him in the Last Chance Showdown.

Starting fifth in a race that took four, Meyers would gain two spots to put his machine in the show as he snagged a third place finish.

Starting 23rd in the feature, Meyers tip toed around the new track, looking to gain ground, but was unable to.

When all was said and done, he was scored in the 22nd spot, and disappointed.

“It was a great crowd, and a cool new track, but we were not very good,” he said. “We did not time in well, and really with this format, that is a huge part of the night.”

Heading to Chico, CA on Saturday, Meyers again timed his Winters/XYZ Machining/Factory Kahne backed machine in 26th fastest, setting him up again for another tough night.

Scoring a sixth place finish in his heat, Meyers narrowly missed the transfer into the 40-lap feature, instead he was forced into the LCS.

Starting sixth in the B, Meyers would work up into a transfer spot, only to lose it late to Rico Abreu, and not qualify for the feature event.

“It is never fun watching a feature event,” he said. “We have too great of an opportunity to be running this way, and this is going to be a long week going through everything, to get it right for Merced next week.”

Tarlton Racing would like to thank Corporate Lending America, Tachi Palace and Casino, Tarlton and Son, Bandy and Associates, Pro Signs, BG Lubricants, All Star Performance, Winters Performance, XYZ Machining, Factory Kahne, Carillo Rods, Victory Valves, Kinser, Fel Pro, Bosch, Brown and Miller, and Astro Titanium for their continued support.

2013 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-7, Wins-0, Top 5’s-, Top 10’s-2.
