PETERSEN MEDIA- Robbie Price came so close to his second win of the season. Saturday night at Skagit Speedway, Price would lead 18 laps only to come up just short and finish in the third spot.

“We had another really good car, but late in the race I changed my exit off turn four and it ended up costing us a win,” said a disappointed Robbie Price.

Timing the Millstorne Heating and Sheet Metal/Wheeler Paint Works/Rod End Supply backed No. 21p machine in fifth fastest, the Cobble Hill, BC driver would line up in the second starting spot of his heat race.

Finishing third, Price would line up on the front row for the 25-lap Dirt Cup tune-up feature event. When the green flag waived, Price dropped the hammer as he jumped out to the early lead.

Strong out front, Price turned in some extremely impressive laps as the race reeled off laps in rapid fire fashion. Looking to be untouchable out front, Price would start to change his line a little as he adjusted to the every-changing dirt track surface.

Starting to open up his exit, Price would allow Colton Heath and JJ Hickle to both close in on him as the laps wound down.

On the 18th lap of the eventual non-stop  affair, Heath would get under Price exiting turn four, though the Canadian product would try to get back under Heath on the 19th lap only to be held off.

On the 22nd lap, JJ Hickle would then get by Price as he would finish third during the track’s final event before the upcoming Dirt Cup.

“It was a little frustrating to end our night like we did,” Price added. “I am a little mad at myself for changing my line up, but that comes with the territory of leading the race. Hopefully we can continue to run well at Dirt Cup in a couple of weeks.”

Price and his team would like to thank Millstone Heating and Sheet Metal, Wheeler Paint Works, Rod End Supply, Wildlight Photography, and Shark Racing Engines for their support during the 2017 season.
