PETERSEN MEDIA-Following in older brother Justin’s footsteps, Rickey Sanders put together a memorable Saturday night at Dixon Speedway as he picked up his third win of the season in impressive fashion as he also won his heat and the Dash.
“It was a pretty good night for us,” Rickey Sanders said. “We struggled a bit in time trials, but having my brother, Justin, there really helped us out a lot. His knowledge got us going good for the rest of the night.”
Timing in seventh fastest in qualifying time trials, the Aromas, CA driver would go on to pick up a heat race win over Ashton Torgerson and Blaine Baxter.
Making his way into the Dash, Sanders would find himself with a front row starting position as he looked to at least keep the same positioning to start the feature event.
Getting the jump, Sanders would flex his muscle in the six lap showdown as he would pick up the win by over a second, and put his machine on the pole to kick off the 25-lap feature event.
Working with brother, Justin and his guys before the feature, Sanders would continue to show some serious speed on this night as he jumped out to the lead when the green flag was displayed to the field.
With a very strong car underneath him, Sanders was able to keep the field at bay as he was in search of his third feature event win of the season. Sanders would turn in an impressive performance as he kept Sage Bordenave and Kyle Mentch at bay and cruised to his third win of the season.
“Really good way to end the point season at Dixon,’ Sanders added. “To win the heat, dash, and the feature is not easy, and pretty cool to say we did it. Thanks to everyone who makes this all possible.”
