PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing to be a fixture at Petaluma Speedway, Cody Lamar is continuing to run well at the bay area speedway as he battled a flat right rear tire to finish fifth on Saturday night.

“We had good speed all night long, but we cut a right-rear tire late and held on for all we could,” Cody Lamar said. “We got really tight in the closing laps, and I am happy we could end up in the Top-Five.”

Taking part in the second PitStopUSA Shootout race of the year, Lamar opened the night up by timing his A1 Septic/Joe Hunt Magnetos/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 9L machine in eight fastest during qualifications.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Lamar would take care of business as he would race to the win and earn a spot in the nightly redraw. With a little luck on his side, the two-pill would place the Sacramento, CA driver on the front row of the feature event.

When the came to life, Lamar would battle up front with the likes of Colby Copeland, Geoff Ensign, and Bradley Terrelll as they raced hard inside the Top-Five. Holding is own with some past track champions, Lamar would lose a little ground in the closing laps as he began to fight a tight race car.

With his right rear going down, Lamar would back down a little bit as he would fall back to the sixth spot in the race’s closing laps.

Taking advantage of a wild last lap, Lamar would sneak into the fifth spot at the finish line, as he finished the race with nearly a completely flat right-rear tire.

“Our car turned into a handful at the end of the race, and we were lucky our tire held up, and we didn’t tear anything up,” Lamar said. “We are getting better each time out at Petaluma Speedway and I am enjoying running there weekly.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.
