PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking advantage of a rare midweek race at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA, Tony Gualda and the C&M Motorsports team looked extremely strong in the early goings of the feature event until a part failure forced Gualda to retire from the event.

“We had a really fast racecar, and I was having a blast but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be,” Tony Gualda said. “Huge thanks to Cody, Mandi, MF, and everyone else who helps out on making the night possible.”

With 46 cars packed into the pits, Gualda would lock himself into the 30-lap feature event by earning quick time honors during qualifications. With the Top-Six qualifiers locking straight into the feature and foregoing a heat race for the Fast Dash, Gualda would finish third in that and find himself seventh on the starting grid.

With some track massaging taking place during the night, the surface was picture perfect for the 30-lap finale. Lining up behind the heat race winners, the Hollister, CA driver had a very strong Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/PitStopUSA mount underneath him as he quickly jumped into the Top-Five.

Running well inside the Top-Five, Gualda would find himself in the fourth position as the race hit the halfway point. Staring to battle for the last spot on the podium on the 18th lap, Gualda would lose power under caution and take a trip to the work area.

The crew would work feverishly to find an issue, but it proved to be to much to fix in a short period of time and Gualda’s night would come to an end.

“It was a bummer, but it was fun to take part in a different format,” Gualda said. “Looking forward to Placerville on Saturday for the final points race of the season.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports are eyeing some schedules with Placerville Speedway now off for two weeks.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-23, Wins-0, Top 5’s-6, Top 10’s-12.
