Moore Set for Knoxville Nationals Following 14th Place Run in Fernley, NV

PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to action on Saturday night with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour after taking a couple of weekends off to prepare for the upcoming Knoxville Nationals, Mason Moore would have a good night going until contact during a late restart relegated him to a 14th place finish.

“It was good to get back in the car after a couple of weeks away, and we were on our way to coming away with a good finish,” Moore said. “Unfortunately a little contact during a lap 33 restart got us turned around and we gave up a Top-10 spot and ended up finishing 14th.”

Making the one and only start of the season at Fernley, NV on Saturday night, Moore would time the Geico/Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes/Twisted Tea backed No. x1 entry in second fastest in his qualifying group.

After a hard fought battle with Shane Golobic, Moore would finish third in his heat race which would ultimately make him eligible for the Dash once all four heat races were ran.

Lining up third in the Dash, Moore’s fifth place finish put him in the third row for the start of the 35-lap feature event on an extremely slick and technical Fernley 95A Raceway.

Running inside the Top-10 much of the night, Moore would lose a couple of spots in traffic amidst a 33-lap green flag run. When the race’s first yellow of the night flew, Moore would find himself in 10th and in the fifth row for a double-file restart.

When the race restarted, Moore would feel contact from another car, and it would result in him spinning out to a stop. Lining up as the last car on the lead lap, Moore would take the checkered flag in the 14th spot.

“Our finish wasn’t where he wanted, or where we should have been but it was good to get a night of racing in before the Nationals,” Moore said. “I am very eager to get back to Knoxville, and see what we can do against some of the best competition our country has to offer.”

Moore would like to thank Geico, Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Twisted Tea, Levin’s Auto Supply, Garth Moore Insurance, LRB Race Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Sierra Single Ply, Lucas Oil, RPI, and Encore Catering for their support in 2017.

ON TAP: Moore and the F&F Racing team will hit the famed Knoxville Raceway on Friday night for their qualifying attempt during the Knoxville 360 Nationals before taking part in the Saturday night finale and the Capitani Classic on Sunday.
