PETERSEN MEDIA- A busy two-race weekend in Northern California saw Mason Moore pick up a hard fought sixth place finish at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night in the Mason Moore Racing No. 22 before tough luck hindered him in the Brian Cannon Motorsports No. 47 entry on Saturday night in Stockton, CA.
“Friday night we were pretty good,” Moore said. “We were running in the Top-Five early when we had some damage to our left rear tire and we were able to come from the back and finish sixth. Saturday we had some tough luck in our heat, got through the “B”, but then before the feature we got told we were being penalized and didn’t make the show.”
Kicking his weekend off on Friday night, Moore timed the Coors Light/LRB Race Products/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 22 machine in ninth quickest of the 33 cars checked into the pit area.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Princeton, CA driver would pick up the important heat race win and earn a spot in the redraw. Pulling the six-pill, Moore would line his MMR entry up in the third row for the 25-lap feature event.
On the extremely slick racing surface that offered up some challenges to the competitors, Moore would quickly work his way into fifth. An early restart would see a fellow driver get into Moore’s left rear and it would cause the tire to pop and force Moore to relinquish his spot inside the Top-Five, and go to the work area.
From the back of the pack, Moore had his elbows up as he made some big moves on the North State quarter mile. Racing his way through the field, Moore would rally to close his night out with a sixth place finish.
Saturday night Moore would hop back in the Brian Cannon Motorsports No. 47 machine and take part in the Inaugural Asparagus Cup at Stockton Dirt Track.
Getting off to a nice start, Moore would the Mike’s Harder Lemonade/Garth Moore Insurance/Selover Paint and Body backed No. 47 machine in eighth fastest amongst the 31 drivers checked into the event.
Lining up third in his heat race, Moore would run in the position until the caution flag flew and his right-rear lost air pressure. Opting to stay on the speedway, Moore would try to hang on to a transfer position, but would slip back to fifth as it would later be discovered a broken bleeder was the cause.
Forced into the semi, Moore would jump up into the second position early in the race only to feel his right-rear go down again as it endured a big cut. Going to the back, Moore would make some big moves to race into a transfer position and qualify for the feature event. However, prior to the feature event, officials would inform Moore that he jumped the last restart and would keep him from the feature event.”
“Saturday wasn’t too great of a night,” Moore said. “We had a really fast racecar, but things just didn’t go our way. It was a busy weekend and I have to thank Brian Cannon and everyone for their hard work. We have some family obligations this weekend but will be back for the Bradway weekend.”
Moore would like to thank Coors Light, LRB Race Products, NAAKE Suspension, K&N, Selover Paint and Body, Lucas Oil, ITC Service Group, Saureel, and Moore Insurance Services for their support.
Brian Cannon Motorsports would like to thank Mike’s Harder Lemonade, Garth Moore Insurance, FK Rod Ends, and Mountain Mikes Pizza for their support in 2018.
