PETERSEN MEDIA: Friday night in Chico, CA, Lucas Ashe would have a very strong showing that would come to an end a little early after a mistake while running inside the Top-10 brought his night to an end.
“I thought Friday went well,” Lucas Ashe said. “Harley and Brandon gave me a great car and helped me with some things I struggled with last week making my own calls. I am happy with the feel of everything and am looking forward to our next one.”
Timing the Jester Auto Museum and Event Center/SALCO, Inc./Lucas Oil backed No. 33 machine in 10th quickest, Ashe would find himself in an entertaining battle with Tanner Thorson in heat race competition.
Getting the upper hand, Ashe would pick up the win and make himself eligible for the redraw where the three-pill put him in the second row to start the 25-lap feature event.
When the race came to life, Ashe would do a great job of holding his own against some veteran aces as he made moves inside the Top-5. Slipping back to sixth and seventh near the race’s halfway point, Ashe continued to run well on the quarter mile speedway.
A late restart would see Ashe lose a couple of positions, as he would fall back to 10th. Working on the high side of the speedway, Ashe would hang his right rear over the cushion and he would get completely off the racing surface and get into foam on the 19th lap and it would bring his night to an end.
“I really felt good in the feature and we were really competitive,” Ashe added. “Unfortunately I got up over the racing surface and into the foam and it ended our night. I really have to thank Harley, Brandon, and my dad for all of their hard work.”
Lucas Ashe Racing would like to thank Jester Auto Museum and Event Center, SALCO Inc., Lucas Oil, STL Tile, Crown Motors, Logo USA, Triple X Race Co., DMI Components, VSR, Factory QRC, Shaver Racing Engines, Rod End Supply, Fat Cat Propane, and Justeson Farms for their continued support.
2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 10, Wins-0, Top-5’s-1, Top-10’s-4
