PETERSEN MEDIA: One week removed from a runner up finish at Merced Speedway, Justyn Cox again found himself in the second finishing position on Saturday night in Placerville, CA.

“It was another pretty good night for us,” Cox said. “We have picked up quite a few podiums this year, and I would really love to start converting these to wins for all of my guys and partners.”

With 23 cars checked in for weekly action on Saturday night, Cox would time the Michael David Winery/MDW Sports/Five Window Beer Company backed No. 31c machine in ninth quickest in qualifications.

Getting the better of Justin Sanders at the start of his heat race, Cox would race his way to the win and earn a berth in the redraw were the four pill put him in the second row for the 25-lap feature event.

Battling in fourth position for much of the race, Cox would soon find himself in third and chasing after Kalib Henry and Andy Gregg. As the leaders went through traffic, Cox would move into the second position after a late restart.

With Henry committed to the top, Cox would dive low in the final laps trying to make something happen, but just was unable to find anything to power his way into the lead.

When the checkered flag dropped, Cox cruised underneath picking up his 15thTop-five finish of the 2019 season.

“I said it last week, but since we found some things wrong with our car the last few weeks, it has been really good lately,” Cox said. “Glad to a strong piece at home, now I’m excited to head to Canada this week and team up with Doug Rutz again.”
