PETERSEN MEDIA- Back in action after a couple of turbulent nights at Placerville Speedway, Tony Gualda meant business as he earned quick time honors before picking up his sixth Top-Five finish of the season.
“It was good to be back and have a strong night,” Tony Gualda said. “We had a couple of to goes the last few weeks and I really have to thank Cody and Mandi for sticking behind me.”
Gualda checked into Placerville Speedway on Saturday night and threw down the gauntlet early as he would end up being the fastest qualifier aboard the Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/PitStopUSA backed No. 7c machine.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Hollister, CA driver would work his way forward to score a second place finish in heat race action and ensure himself a spot in the top-eight redraw.
Pulling the four, Gualda would roll off the starting grid from the second row to kick off the 25-lap feature event. Getting by Justyn Cox when the race came to life, Gualda would take over the third position as he chased after Andy Forsberg and Tanner Carrick who ran one-two in front of him.
In a race that was interrupted by a handful of stoppages, Gualda would get stuck on the bottom during a restart and it would result in him falling back to fourth as Cox snuck back by around him.
Continuing to run inside the Top-Five, Gualda would hold his own in fourth as be battled with the likes of Steven Tiner. Late in the race, a driver would have some issues on the cushion in front of Gualda and he would do the smart thing and check up to avoid him.
In doing so, Gualda would lose some momentum and fall back to fifth where he would on to end his night.
“It was great to have another really fast racecar,” Gualda added. “Cody and his guys do a great job night in and night out and I am happy to give them all a Top-Five finish.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports are eyeing some schedules with Placerville Speedway now off for two weeks.
